Interview with VoyageDenver: How Jennifer Fox Built this Residential Property Management Company

Julie Walker • October 23, 2026

Building a successful business comes down to showing up for people, finding a way forward through tough times, and staying true to your roots. In a recent feature with VoyageDenver, founder Jennifer Fox shared the story of how Fox Property Management grew from managing three family properties in 2002 into a trusted local team overseeing approximately 1,400 residential rentals across the Front Range. Today, our company blends deep local roots in Boulder, Louisville, and Denver with a values-based approach to full-service property management.

“We love working with Fox Property Management because they treat our rental home like their own. Their family-focused approach and clear communication make property ownership completely stress free.”

How It All Started: A Mom, Three Houses, and a $45 Ad Budget

Back in 2002, Jennifer Fox stepped into real estate operations by managing her mother's three residential properties. What started as helping family quickly expanded to managing rentals for friends who saw her dedication and hands-on care.

By 2007, Jen made it official, launching a simple website and setting up Google Ads with a modest commitment of $45 a month. By August 2010, the portfolio grew to 28 properties. Shortly after securing a new client with seven homes, Jennifer brought on her youngest brother, Caleb, as a business partner to lead operational finance.

Together, they built a company grounded in core values: be kind, find a way forward, and own the outcome. Today, our team of 45 professionals based out of our Louisville property management company office manages a mix of long-term unfurnished leases, furnished mid-term rentals, and short-term vacation stays.

"We’re known for building genuine, relational connections with our clients, tenants, and vendors—guided every day by our core values to be kind, find a way forward, and own the outcome."

Finding a Way Forward Through Big Challenges

Growing a business across two decades brings plenty of learning curves, but nothing tested our operational strength quite like the COVID-19 pandemic.

When financial uncertainty hit local landlords and tenants, our team rolled up our sleeves. We conducted extensive research into rental assistance programs, worked closely with residents to help them succeed, and successfully collected 98% of rental income while continuing to grow the business.

Another ongoing focus for our team is navigating frequent annual changes to Colorado real estate laws, lease regulations, and notice requirements. Staying ahead of evolving Colorado landlord-tenant compliance rules lets us protect our property owners from legal headaches while keeping operations running smoothly.

Our Sweet Spot: Single-Family and Multi-Family Residential Portfolios

When property owners evaluate top options for residential property management in Denver and the surrounding submarkets, they often find two extremes: massive corporate firms that treat homes like numbers, or tiny solo operators overwhelmed by complex regulations.

At Fox Property Management, we focus specifically on smaller residential portfolios. Our work spans single-family homes, condos, townhomes, duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes, a 10-unit building, and a 20-unit complex. This focus sits right in our favorite sweet spot: properties outside the scope of huge corporate management firms, but too complex for small ones to handle.

Managing multi-family residential properties requires extra attention to shared building systems, common areas, and multi-tenant communications. Applying proactive maintenance systems across multi-unit buildings keeps operational costs low, reduces tenant turnover, and protects equity for long-term investors.

Beyond everyday residential and multi-family management, we actively collaborate with the City of Boulder, Visit Boulder, and the Sundance Film Festival to provide turnkey housing solutions and Sundance rental management services for homeowners preparing for the festival.

Born and Raised on the Front Range

Our company culture reflects the active, community-minded lifestyle of Colorado. Growing up in Boulder as the oldest of four siblings, Jen was always on the move, playing competitive soccer, skiing, and singing in high school and college choir. So, who better than to start a residential property management team than someone born and raised here?

That same energy and relational spirit drives our company culture today. Whether we are helping a first-time landlord, coordinating with vetted local maintenance contractors, or singing in a local community choir, we believe business is about building genuine human connections.
